Here's a neat idea for all students (or parents of students) that are just learning a new instrument. This is not a book of music, but a book to help a young person be more organized while learning music. The main portion of this spiral bound book is a section of lesson assignments. There is a convenient area for a teacher to write in a student's assignments, as well as the student's practice goals. There's a space for the student to actually record his practice, as well as plenty of room for as a section of lesson assignments and instruction notes. This sounds complicated, but it isn't - we use a similar system here in our teaching studios, and it works really well! This book also features: 1) keyboard guide; 2) note and rest values chart; 3) letters of encouragement to students and parents; 4) motivational pages where the student can keep track of favorite songs, memorized songs, performances and recitals, music books, listening assignments, and concert attendance; 5) there's an illustrated 6 page section on music history, with a visual timeline for reference; 6) 8 pages of staff paper; and 7) a 1 page dictionary of musical terms.
